The Corona pandemic has been a horrific humanitarian disaster, claiming the lives of 6.45 million people worldwide, since the first cases appeared in late 2019 in Wuhan, China, until the end of 2022, according to Maria Vanker Khove, head of the technical team concerned with Covid-19 at the World Health Organization. While many studies and research have interacted with the health aspect and the social and economic effects of this epidemic, very few have addressed the dimensions of the crisis and its effects in our Arab region, despite the importance of this topic.

In this context, this book carefully monitors these effects, by conducting a number of studies that monitor and analyze the political effects of the pandemic. It includes case studies from several countries in our Arab region, extending from the Levant in the east to the Maghreb in North Africa, in an attempt to understand how countries and societies dealt with the Covid crisis from a democratic perspective.
