There is a wonderful word in the English language that unfortunately has no direct equivalent in our Arabic language. This word is (disillusionment) in noun form, and (disillusioned) in adjective form, and in the best possible direct translation it means: liberation from illusion. Upon closer examination, the translation of the word reveals that this desired liberation does not happen in the blink of an eye, or even overnight; rather, it is primarily dependent on the occurrence of a long-term “process”, the outbreak of which is dependent on taking an initiative action, followed by a definite resistance that creates some kind of conflict. These four pillars of the process - action, resistance, conflict, and liberation - are the axis of all human progress, indeed they are the law of human civilization as a whole. The signs of the process usually begin with cognitive anxiety followed by fertile doubt, then it passes through a stage of thinking and questioning followed by research, reading, and the interaction of the mind with thought, until at the end of the journey a ray of light emerges from the darkness, and the dazzling light of truth, passing with confidence and strength like a sharp blade, liberates the person from the past illusion.
