Following a failed attempt to assassinate the American ambassador to Brazil, Raul is mistakenly arrested and thrown into prison. He is subjected to parties of torture as they call it, the art of torture and the search for creativity in it in inhuman ways, in order to extract a confession from him for an act he did not commit. The World Cup final between Brazil and Italy in June 1970 was the main event in Brazil, and perhaps in the whole world, the event that overshadows everything... Raul was accused. The innocent, and his grieving mother, torn between police stations, the press, the church, neighbors, and friends, searching for her son, her only child, and for the tip of a thread that would lead her to him, to no avail.

A novel full of pain and horrifying details, about violations that amount to criminality inside and outside the prisons of the Brazilian dictatorship in the 1970s. Cruelty, fear, and lack of hope, in light of the loud celebrations of Brazil’s victory in the World Cup for the third time in its history, the writer was able to very skillfully portray all of this in a breathless rhythm, leaving us to observe the irony; As if the day of the tournament was the day of abandoning Raoul and colluding to leave him alone.
